When Spatzwear launched the Windsock2 some years ago, we created a brand new niche. Since then, the Windsock2 has been worn to victory in Tour de France stages as well as many of the Classics races (including the Tour of Flanders, Paris Roubaix and Milan San Remo), not forgetting the UCI World Gravel Championships.
For 2026, we have developed an oversock that pushes the boundaries even further...
The Windsock PRO shares many of the fabrics and features of our legendary Windsock2 but adds a new printed internal gripper which has been in development for 2 years. The new vertical grippers are 1mm thick and are made from the same material as on our grip socks. They offer a secure grip on the leg without any extra compression. The new grippers can barely be seen or felt whilst in use and they do not alter the fit, feel or function of the overshoe. Their position on the leg means that the faster you ride, the more the grippers adhere to your leg for a no slip grip! In the past, we have seen riders resort to using hairspray to secure their oversocks; those days are gone!
These are the oversocks worn by Mathieu van der Poel in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in 2026. At the time of this event, we sent one pair of Windsock PRO to Alpecin-Premier Tech for evaluation by the riders. The results speak for themselves...
Developed for when you need immunity from the wind or protection from the elements when speed is paramount. The new Windsock PRO has a waterproof, stretchy, sleek fitting main panel with a super aerodynamic lycra leg section.
Features include:
- 2x radial leg grippers plus 4 x vertical grippers to ensure a non-slip grip. We have added a very sticky silicone tape to the hem, in addition to a woven-in silicone gripper. We do not know of another manufacturer who has gone to these levels to ensure a good fit on the legs.
- Striated, aero fabric is cut and tuned to follow the contours of the ankle joint and articulate beautifully without wrinkling / creasing on the pedal stroke.
- Cut tall to meet UCI length regulations.
- A very tough velcro fastener tucks neatly behind the cleat/pedal interface to allow easy wearing, tuning of fit and a very aerodynamic silhouette.
- Kevlar toe area to avoid nicks and tears to the fabric. This is another first in Aero Overshoe design, used originally for the Windsock2.
- Silicone grippers have been placed inside the heel area to lock the booties solid against your shoes. They will not "ride up" your heels during a race situation.
- A subtle new logo in mid grey keeps things classy.
Testing at the SSE Hub wind tunnel (George Fox Cycling Solutions) indicated that the Windsock PRO is more aerodynamic than any other similar product we tested. Here are our findings from the tunnel:

CdA Run Average Difference vs Wind Socks: -0.0002
- Delivers improved aerodynamic performance over Wind Socks.
- CdA reductions are slightly greater across most yaw and speed angles.

Differences range from: 0 to -0.0005 in most yaw-speed combinations.
- Summary: Wind Sock Pro is the most aerodynamically efficient of the three models, delivering consistent and deeper CdA reductions than the baseline Wind Socks.
Conclusion when using Wind Socks as the baseline:

- All three models perform well, with Wind Sock Pro leading by a small but consistent margin.
