Starting with a braking system that was already the benchmark among mountain bike brakes, Shimano engineers reworked the design for the Shimano XTR Race BL-M9100 Brake Lever. Both the clamp and grip body were changed: the clamp moves further into the centre of the handle and is angled, cleverly supporting the outer end of the balance tank directly on the handlebar and creating an additional abutment during lever operation.

This significantly increases stiffness and stability, ultimately leading to an even more direct brake feel and better controllability. The BL-M9100 is 10% stiffer compared to its predecessor. Grip width on this lightweight XC brake lever with a magnesium housing is individually adjustable, and thanks to I-Spec EV construction, the XTR SL-M9100-I shift lever can be mounted directly on the brake lever.
