2018 Road Groupset Weight Comparison

Posted by ccache store on

Updated Feb-2019
Added SRAM eTAP AXS 12-speed Disc wireless groupset

1. Rolling updates to this post.
2. Careful with the crankset weight as BB30 versions and GXP will vary but generally a good baseline to work with.
3. For easy comparison we've selected short cage rear derailleurs, braze-on front derailleurs, BSA bottom brackets, 11-28 cassettes (or nearest), regular-mount rim brakes and flat-mount disc brake calipers.
4. Please note eTap component weights includes batteries.
5. SRAM HRD shifter weights include the cables, brake hose and caliper.
6. All disc brake shifters are hydraulic.
7. No Di2 battery/e-wires/junction boxes/disc rotors/cabling/brake hose/power meters or adaptors factored in unless noted otherwise. Every frame and every build is different so it is better you add these on yourself. We might add a separate section later on down the track.

  • Hi Paolo, the Disc groupset calculation does not include rotors (as stated in the header). Once these are factored in the disc total group weight will be heavier than the equivalent mech group.

  • Thx for the interesting comparison.
There is an issue with totals. Shimano dura ace disc vs mechanical has same values except brakes and shifters. For disc version, lighter brakes doesn’t compensate shifters. However the total of disc version is shown as lower…

    Did not check the others.

    Thx Paolo

  • Hi Avi,

ETAP includes the battery weight. Di2 does not.

    Hi Shaun,

51g for battery, a couple more grams for the junction box dependent on which junction box you choose and then cables vary depending on length.

  • Hi

what is the weight of the battery, box and cables for 9150 di2 please

    Shaun on
  • Does the weight on DI2 include battery ?
Does the weight on the e-tap include the batteries ?
