Compass Baby Shoe Pass TC Extralight Clincher Tyre - Tanwall (650 x 42mm)
The updated version of our most popular 650B tire is 1.5 mm wider and tubeless-compatible. The new Babyshoe Pass measures a true 42 mm wide on most rims. Mounted tubeless, it's even more at home on its namesake pass high in the Cascade mountains.
Babyshoe Pass (1330 m/4350 ft) runs between the great volcanoes of Mount St. Helens and Mount Adams in the Cascade Range. This long climb on a gravel road provides a “back-door” way from Seattle to Portland, which avoids the crowded Puget Lowland. As you climb out of the dense evergreen forests, the mountain vistas open up and you see glimpses of Mount Adams.
For this challenging ride, you will appreciate the Babyshoe Pass TC, which rolls as fast as a racing tire on the paved lower sections of the climb, yet floats across the gravel on the higher parts.
The Babyshoe Pass TC is tubeless-compatible. When used with tubes, Compass recommend Schwalbe SV14A tubes.
Compass tires combine the performance of high-end tubular tires with the convenience of clinchers and the width needed for allroad riding. Our supple casings roll smoothly over surface irregularities. They absorb less energy as they deform with each tire revolution. Compass tires make your bike feel alive. From the first meters, you will notice the difference.
Compass tires are well-suited for everyday use. The tread pattern interlocks with the road surface for superb cornering grip, whether your roads are wet or dry. The tread is 3 mm thick in the center to last many miles, but thin and supple on the shoulders where it doesn’t wear. Choose the widest tires your bike can fit for more speed on rough roads, better cornering grip, more comfort and fewer flats. (Wide tires roll over debris that gets hammered into narrower tires.)
The Extralight casings take the performance, comfort and feel of your bike to an entirely new level. Once you have a set of Compass tires, you won’t be able to go back to “normal” tires!
